Serious personal injury to the breadwinner of a family can forever change the lives of many different people.
Wrongful Death – When Innocents Die Because of the Acts of Another
Every state in the country has addressed the injustice of someone’s death being caused by the wrongs committed by another person or company. These are commonly referred to as “wrongful death statutes,” and the Texas Wrongful Death Statute appears as Chapter 71 of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code.
There is an absolute deadline for filing a Texas Wrongful Death case: these lawsuits must be filed within two (2) years of the date of death, or they are time-barred. Tex.Civ.Pract.&Rem.Code §16.003(b)(2005). If you or someone you know believes that they may have a wrongful death claim, then it is very important that they insure that legal remedies aren’t lost in the midst of the emotional turmoil and understandable grief that surrounds the sudden and unexpected, tragic loss of a loved one.
If you or a loved one has been injured or harmed by the wrongful actions of another person, company, or governmental entity, then please feel free to call for a free initial consultation. Se habla espanol.
