Dennis is Board Certified in Personal Injury and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and he has held both specializations for the past 25 years. He is an “AV” rated lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory and holds the rank of Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates. Dennis has been designated as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

In 1973, Dennis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, cum laude, at Tulane University where he was also Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the University of Houston in 1976 with honors.

After graduation from law school, Dennis served as an Assistant District Attorney in Beaumont and Houston, Texas. He also was a Special Agent in the F.B.I. in Mobile, Alabama. From 1983 until 1987, Dennis was a partner in a defense firm, Scott & Hulse, in El Paso, Texas. Since 1987, Dennis has sought to protect the rights of aggrieved individuals and families against insurance companies and corporations like the ones he once represented. Those efforts have covered Central and West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

Dennis is a sustaining member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), a member of the State Bar of Texas, a member of the State Bar of New Mexico and a member of the Bar Associations of San Antonio and El Paso. He is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas and New Mexico, in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States District Court of New Mexico and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
