Unreasonably Dangerous
Passenger vans like the one involved in Saturday's deadly crash in Bathurst are unsafe for transporting people and should be recalled, says an American lawyer who has represented victims in dozens of similar accidents.
Jeff Wigington, whose Texas-based firm specializes in automobile liability lawsuits, says extended transport vans have a high centre of gravity, are difficult to handle and are prone to roll-overs.
"It's much more likely to fishtail and get out of control, and then you can't get it back under control," he said.
"Schools shouldn't use them, and parents shouldn't let their children ride in them."
